I was looking at the guntrader UK site and noticed a Lee Speed for sale in 8x50R. Did they make them in this calibre or is it a later conversion?

Yes it was done in 8mm interestingly the BSA catalogue list the 8mm as being .315" diameter.

I am assuming that it refers to the Austrian round rather than the Lebel or the Siamese Mauser.

The Austrian was usee as asporting cartridge as remember ammo and MS rifles in the gun room of an estate that I stalked for rather too many years ago now. :|
