Took the 2A to the range

Post by Niner » Wed Aug 09, 2006 2:51 pm

I had some old Nato ammo made in Chile. Rifle functioned fine. I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it. It was all I could do to hit the paper at 100 yards half the time. But.... the ammo wasn't all that good either.

Chilean?

I'd hit the reloading bench for that 2A Robert, you know it makes sense.

I'm using Hornady A-Maxes in my L39 with good medium range results, a good bit cheaper than my usual Lapua Scenars and Sierra Palma Matches

BTW I think you should enter that 2A and the Chilean ammo in the competition.

ammunition?

Crappy ammunition equals crappy results. Not bashing or flaming but the ammo you use has so much to do with accuracy.

Ammo could have been the problem

Post by Niner » Thu Aug 10, 2006 1:01 pm

I've only shot it the one time. I'll have to find some different ammo to see what difference it may make. By the way, the bore looks to be in real good shape so I don't think it's a problem.

Remember they re-calibrated that sight on the 2A1 from the 2A so it was more in line with the NATO cartridge ballistics. 1200 (2A) meter ladder vs 800 (2A1).

May make a diference. Try some Indian ammo...Nobody likes it ,it's cheap and its out there. I have had good luck. Even the South African works okay. My US and Radway and Port I save for my semi-autos.

Windage problems?
