Finished a little project the other day, so I thought I might throw out a few pictures. I bought this rifle a few years back (already sportered and scoped) as a pig-gun. Really ugly stock, in very poor repair, scope had really poor lenses - you get the general picture.

My mate, and gunsmith at that time, took one look at the scope rummaged around in his miscellaneous box and came up with a much better example of exactly the same model. Generously he took mine in a straight trade.

I already had a previously sportered forend. The 5 round magazine came in a Savage No4 I'd bought. A spare butt was no problem. The cheekpiece I had and was contemplating putting on a heavy barreled range rifle. But when I tried it on this combination it was just perfect. I can throw this rifle to the shoulder with my eyes closed, and when I open them I'm looking straight down the scope.

So finally it all came together. A good clean, a bit of stain, a couple of coats of heat resistant paint and voila - same old pig-gun just a bit more presentable.

So what do you think ? Should I keep my day job ?

This is now my "representative Enfield". The action represents the Long Lees, the barrel the No 1's, the butt the No 4's, the cheekpiece the snipers, the scope all the sportered Enfields - I wonder if I can get a flash hider on it ?

Hi Woftam

The rifle looks pretty good and I would be more than happy to take it out for pigs. Unfortunately the only pigs here are in farmers sheds. Just goes to show what can be done with a bit of work!!!!!!!! Very good!!

There are a few Wild Boar loose in the UK now. We might need pig guns when they multiply a bit more.

Thanks for the positive responses gentlemen.

I am currently negotiating a trip away in April/May. And when I say away I mean AWAY - 2 x days driving at 10 hours a day (and we only cross 1 state boundary). Like you Ian all the pigs locally are the domestic variety.

The five rounder was a bit of a surprise Dave, I bought the rifle it came in thinking I'd bought a rifle without a magazine. I find it handy as a hunting magazine and with only five rounds I find I don't need the magazine cut-off.

Done my load development now - looks like a modest 40gr of AR2208 behind a 150gr projectile will be very satisfactory.
