4th Cavalry accoutrements

Things a soldier would carry other than firearms, ammo, or uniforms. Meaning equipment such as ammo pouches, bayonets, holsters, oil cans, cleaning equipment, etc.

4th Cavalry accoutrements

Post by joseyclosey » Mon Feb 26, 2007 2:41 pm

Here are some photo`s from the 1936 Pole Mountain manouvers involving the 4th Cavalry and National Guard units from Wyoming. The 4th rode from Ft. Meade east of Sturgis SD, to Pole Mtn. N/West of Casper, Wyoming. These photo`s illustrate very well the kit and uniforms of the 1930`s US Cavalry.

Many thanks to Bolo Mk1 who sent me the pics of his Dads old Cavalry outfit.

First a series of photo`s showing the the short barrelled version of the1919 Browning MG produced for Cavalry use.

Nice shot showing breeches boots and spurs, a 1904 Artillery Model saddle (a slight mod of the standard troop with D rings etc,) and Phillips pack saddles.
