Unusuall P-14 Receiver

A gunsmith who is providing an action (intact) for a M1917 (P-17 to you Brits) rebuild he mentioned that he had a P-14 receiver that came in with a bunch of British gun parts he got. It was marked with a broad arrow and a Crown over crossed keys, I have not seen it yet; any clue as to what it might be? Vickers? P-13?

Sounds like a proof mark.

Any chance of a picture?

All P14s have - or are supposed to have - a large British Proof mark on the left receiver wall. This mark is a crown over GR (sometimes ER for late rifles) over crossed pennants (square flags on staffs, that might look like "crossed keys") over an inspectors' code.

Well darn, I looked at my P-14, Remington mkI (no *), and it has the broad arrow and the Crown too. I was hoping that I may have stubbled across something neat, still might have. I have not got to see it yet, I am still waiting for him to locate the box of P-14 & M1917 actions. He recently moved his shop and it is not quite fully organized. But I did get to handle a 500 Nitro express double. Which is a bit rare down here in Texas, as is a gunsmith who likes Enfields.
