THE FINISHED ITEM
3-4 Coats of a soft wax I made from 100gms of pure beeswax and 250ml of white spirit. Each coat left for 24 hours then polished with a pure cotton cloth.

Duncan, looks like you put more time in on preserving that rifle than anybody that it was ever issued to in its previous life time ever did. Beeswax and white spirits.....I never would have thought of that. Probably seals that laminated stock pretty well.
