Cigars

Post by Niner » Sun Oct 07, 2007 6:51 pm

I came to the conclusion some time ago that the machine rolled cigars are pretty much not worth the potential lung cancer. And in trying different cigars, I've smoked some fairly expensive hand rolled from time to time just to see if I found them special enough to warrent the price.. At this juncture I have now come to the conclusion that the hand rolled exibit a lot of different quality distinctions and it isn't all about how much they cost either as I burn my one a day.

These are the things I find important when asking myself about value to me.

Does it draw easy but still is firmly packed?

Does it burn not only easy but evenly ?

Do I notice any harshness to the taste. It can be strong without being harsh.

Have I smoked as good for more or less money?

At the moment, I'm finding some of the bundle deals pretty good values. Just ordered a batch of Dominican torpedos from Famous Cigars. They always have some deal. The house brand I just ordered figure out to about $2 each.....but they throw in another batch of cigars of smaller size but about equal quality for free, which brings the order down to about $1 a stick.

Any of you have any opinions about cigars? How do you buy them? What are your favorite brands?

As a lifelong non smoker I have enough other things that I'm dying to do!
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy!

I agree with you. One should never smoke.....nor drink....nor eat meat with a lot of fat content....nor drive without a seatbelt...nor shoot old guns that haven't been properly checked by someone who you pay to say only that they can't find any good reason it may blowup on you..nor....well lots of things. And if you live long enough for your brain to go before the rest of you...will it have been worth the cautions?

What is that ikon of yours anyway?

Fire away Duncan, I used to think it was really just for my Grandfather but nowadays I find it more for my old mates I lost in NI and the ones still being lost now. I shall resume Normal service after 11/11/07.

Pilot Officer James Armitage Rinder 415 Sqn RCAF Holland 05/01/45.

Not saying you shouldnt smoke, I have enough trouble staying healthy as a result of my youth without adding cigars to my list of vices. best of luck.

Ok. Now I see that it's a flower...a poppy.

No problem with you not smoking. It is a bad habit. But to each his own vices, as you say.

Poppy as in Flanders Fields, a symbol of Remembrance, ever more apt as we have troops overseas again.

I'm not anti army I'm just against wasting the lives of our troops in adventures that we should have learnt from History by now!
