Swedish Mauser M96 sights

Post by startwithyou » Tue Mar 29, 2005 9:01 pm

Hi there,

I love to shoot with my Swedish Mauser M96 at ranges varying from 100 to 250 yards (or so). All I do is target shooting but, someday, I'll try varmints.

The issue is that I find the issued iron sights a bit rough to work with (hard to get to POI) so I was considering an alternative.

At first I got to those aperture sights made by MOJO and Williams (W. being simpler and cheaper). After discuting it with a gunsmith and also owner of a Swedish he adviced me that I could try a 2x (or so) pistol scope installed where the rear sight is (so no permanent modifications are required).

So now I'm completely lost, I don't really know what to do. All I want is to leave my rifle unaltered so whenever I want I could get it back to "as issued".

What do you guys advice? Which of those three alternatives would you pick up and why? (target shooting and varmints at ranges from 100 to 250 yards ~ around).

See your posts! Thank you!
