BSA Martini's

Among my collection of .22 cal target rifles, my favorites are my two BSA Martini's. I simply love the Martini action and the Parker-Hale 7A sight is absolutely fantastic in my book.

Between the two of them, I prefer the looks of the Model 12, but, with its adjustable trigger, the 12/15 is my favorite for matches.

Thats a BSA model 13, the one next to it is an 8 with a butt extension and accessory rail. The 13 has abakelite grip that slides onto the lever. It is a pucker period parker hale accessory.

Below the 13 is a martini henry Mk 2 with 1874 just visible to the naked eye. That was a Society of Miniature Rifle Clubs Greener conversion. managed 37 out of 50 at 200 yards a couple of years ago. You need a good alert marker on your target for that.

Below that is a No 1 BSA with a Model 8 sight and below that a model 2A

just below that is a greener club rifle takedown which needs resleeving as the chamber is sht out but I use it in the garden with 22 shot. A Winchester 03 is the last one fitted with an A5 type scope unmarked. It is in original .22 WRF but feeds .22LR ok.It is also screwed for a moderator which I keep on my sporting rifle!

I have to agree, they are extremely habit-forming - especially when I look at how I got started...

A nice Greener min. club, followed by another Greener Mk II conversion, and then there was that... Ah well, you get the drift. These things breed like rabbits, blink twice and there are 2 more of them!

I now have about (Thinking hard) 18 rifles, and (counting...) the only non-Martini's are:

1 snider

1 Feinwerkbau 150 air rifle

1 Ruger #1

Mind you, strictly speaking the Swinburns aren't Martini's either, but they are so close I consider them to be a variant of the original breed.

Jethro, I presume your 12/15 had an aftermarket modification done to it? Normally, these didn't have adjustable triggers. Mind you, I also have a 12/15 converted to 32-20 with a similar mod: sear engagement and overtravel adjustments put in place with some new trigger and sear parts, and quite a bit of milling...

My eye was drawn to the Martini Henry conversion, I have a soft spot for the large frame conversions. That one of yours would complement the two i have in my collection.

Very nice I must get a camera with macro, have you shot in any of the NRA or HBSA miniature matches or Trafalgar? I always promise to attend but seem to get done for the open days and a couple of comps and thats it!

I fired a 303 Martini metford carbine last year and I think it would make a great deer rifle for woodland work!

I shot those two in last years HARC postal comp., this year i am using my No8 and WOP trainers. Did the Trafalger some years ago and am hoping to be there this year. Bisley is an excellent experience but i hate the drive to get there.

I have a 303 Martini carbine and they are extremely handy little rifles, unfortunately mine has a cord worn muzzle so the bullets are tumbling.

Heres a snap of it, complete with front and rear sight protectors.
