P14 stock disc ID

Hello Gents, can anyone tell me what these P14 disc markings mean?

Looks like an old County militia stamp V.YW = Volunteer. York West Riding. I'm guessing the the "A" could be for "A" Company. The"2" following the "A" is the right way round for the letters so could be 2nd Battalion.

So my guess is Rifle No 265, "A" Coy, 2nd Battalion, York West Riding Volunteer Regiment.

But then what would I know.

Seems logical to me but I don't think there was ever such a unit. Yorkshire Regiments were always, I think, identified by the Regiment that sponsored them ie. 3rd Battalion The Duke of Wellington's Regiment (West Riding) (Yorkshire Volunteers) which was my regiment.

Needs someone with much more knowledge that me to sort it but I didn't want you to feel lonely Adam

I don't think the V = Volunteer is open to argument. Or 265 as a rack number.

However I'd throw 2 points into the discussion.

Firstly - with regiment or battalion designations don't the numbers usually precede the unit, eg 2.S.STF or 1.SX.A

Secondly - Yorkshire and West Riding seem to be separate designations.

Perhaps YWA is Yorkshire W??? Artillery ?

Just to be difficult, I would question whether the stamp is even British.

P.14s arrived a bit late in the day for an old county Militia stamp and I would expect a date of issue to be present on a British disc.

Perhaps Finnish or Estonian?
