Stella Artois
Belgian beer. Belgium makes more styles and varieties of beer than any other country in the world....so I read.
Stella Artois was on sale today. All malt Pilsner-style bottom femented lager.
From what I read, the orginal brewery was destroyed by artillery fire during WWI. The beer itself goes back to 1366 for it's roots in the Den Horen brewery in Leuven.
"Originally a Christmas beer, Stella Artois is brewed using water drawn from a well deep beneath the brewery and fermented with a unique strain of yeast".
It has a mellow light taste with distinctive edge to it. Try it some time if you haven't already. One of the better imports.

Drink it regularly and like it but then again, I like most lager beers - its a 'Living in France' thing

The problem in the UK is that we get two different versions of Stella,
The Original Belgian version and one brewed in East London (or it was), bearing the three most obscene words in the history of beer "Brewed Under Licence".

I'll make a note
I'll look next time I'm in the specialty beer section of a store that stocks a good selection of imports. I guess it's a question of do they export to the US or not.
Stella, brewed under license known locally as wife beater!
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy!
