What is it?

What is it?
i picked this little jewel up from a guy whom spent 30 years in the US Army from Vietnam to present day. he didn't know what it was nor where he had procured it, but was pretty sure it had some Czech in it. single shot, smooth bore with sight groove in front receiver. looks like it should be a shotgun except for the thickness of barrel and cannot for the life of me figure out the caliber or gauge. has a 26 stamp on barrel and stock next to each other. So, what is it?

In the pic the extractor looks like the Polish .22 Moisin
I remember reading that the Poles copied a pre-WWII Polish .22 training rifle to make the Post-WWII .22 Moisin.
Being Polish myself, we do things a bit differently sometimes.
Did any other .22 ever use that extraction system?

Anschutz make a .410 shotgun almost identical to that. I have one here!
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy!

I have seen many Anschutz .410s in exactly the same format, the extractor is even a seperate piece that falls out if the gun isnt held horizontally when loading. Not the work you would expect from a great firm but then these are budget actions to keep the cheap opposition out of the home market.lmc1016 wrote:i think I have narrowed it down to a 9mm Rimfire shotshell. i forgot to mention the bolt being rimfire. the firing mechanism appears far to simple for an Anschutz action. there is no telling who made it and when.
I have a 9mm rimfire by Voere and its years ahead in quality over the Anschutz, work that one out?
I suppose if it was brought back from Europe it could have been a trade gun in the way that Brum made loads of unmarked guns for the small traders who stamped them as makers despite only being retailers!
9mm rimfire is undergoing a revival here for indoor (barn) pest control etc. The price of grain means the rat man is popular again and it was always a garden gun in Europe for keeping sparrows out of the fruit trees. Solid shot was also available for this calibre.
