At last
the deed is done and the rifle is mine.
A 1915 Enfield, photos later but not a bad deal for $300AUD.

and this
is what I plonked down $300AUD (hard earned I might add) for - yes it's a box.

And in the box was this
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v33/w ... GPP001.jpg[/pic]
Haven't been through it in detail but the highlights would be -
one early style clothe bandolier (empty)
one late style clothe bandolier (full of MkVII)

reloading components
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v33/w ... GPP005.jpg[/pic]
more MkVII
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v33/w ... GPP008.jpg[/pic]
couple of boxes of commercial .303
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v33/w ... GPP006.jpg[/pic]
a spare barrel, padded gun bag, sporterised fore-end (am looking at my sporterised MLE and thinking MMMMMM, anyone know if a SMLE fore-end will fit a MLE action ?)
and of course the rifle - a No1 MkIII, manufactured Enfield 1915, reinspection dates of '28, '32 and ? '36 (so it was in the system for a while)
Has a magazine cut-off (RFI marked), marking disk hole filled, MkIII* fore-end, no rear volley.
I have everything to return it to MkIII configuration including a british, walnut, MkIII fore-end. And that was my original plan. However the barrel is '41 dated, not numbered and has the green anti corrosion paint on it ( as does the receiver) so I am rethinking that plan.

I envy you mate!

Joe,
unfortunately I'm too busy already.
Doing 2 subjects for a Masters Degree, working full time, job interview in a week, organising some agency work in outback Queensland, I've also volunteered to do some photography work for a good cause and the missus has had some minor surgery on her right hand so I've got most of the domestic duties to contend with as well.
This (sigh) will have to go on the backburner until about September. I will enjoy it then Ian, trust me on that.
The Remington is collectable is it ? I was going to take a packet outback as my mate reckons it's just the ticket for pigs. Might have to rethink that.
Any one know the length of a Bren sling ? The sling that came with it is a bit longer than the standard SMLE sling. If it is a Bren sling then it will be free to a good home if some one's looking for one.
Well back to the grind - a mere 12 chapters of a research text to read.
