Contest winners are:

Post by Niner » Sun Aug 10, 2008 11:01 am

The contest has ended and the following have made the ten required posts as well as a few more. The winners, in no particular order, are: Joseyclosey, Woftam,Karl/Pa, 24626151, Tom-May, and Duncan in France.

The contest was to be a drawing for patch and pin sets for three. But since I got plenty of them and I hate to see anybody lose....everybody wins.

All winners mentioned above, please email me an address where to mail your prize.

Saves me making a label and paying some postage. But are you sure you don't want some extras for your collection?

Prizes mailed those who wanted them

Post by Niner » Tue Aug 12, 2008 1:36 pm

Amazing. It costs exactly the same to mail the same weight package from Alabama to Australia as it does to England.

One address was U.K. and others to the same locality were addressed as England. The clerk asked me what was the difference.... and I said... darned if I knew but I just addressed them the way I was told by each.

England is a componant part of the U.K., however, as far as overseas post is concerned, there is probably no difference as they will share a common point of entry into the UK, however, it is possible that post to Scotland or Northern Ireland may well have different arrival points (these might also take a proportion of the 'UK' traffic, but of that I'm unsure*)

Welsh post, I believe is dispatched with that for England.

Does that make sense?

Tom

Probably enough address on them anyway.

I noticed that the UK mailing addresses took up six lines for each of the addresses. In the US, at most, four lines will do and mostly three is enough with city, state and zip all on the same bottom line. I imagine in the UK they have your address down pat in any case with all the information on the envelope whether or not the people in the US know the difference between England and the U.K. .
