HBSA 35th Anniversary dinner last night

Post by 24626151 » Sun Aug 31, 2008 11:06 am

The wife and I attended although due to commitments with pheasants I couldnt shoot this weekend  we drove the 166 mile round trip and enjoyed polite company, good food and a nice pint or 3!

I will pull out the stops for the 40th!
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy!

Another elitist, southern shooting club right up there with Bisley and the NRA.

Claiming to have national presence.

No wonder shooters in Britain aren't united with organisations like those.

I suggest it is the same the world over Adam. Shooters are their own worst enemies at times - as Jodi Mitchell sang ".......you don't know what you've lost till its gone.."

I dont see how the HBSA is elitist, yes it does encourage learned research and it is solely responsible for the drafting of the current section 7 rules but apart from a few crusties who have given close on 40 years to preserve our heritage it is open to all, has branches in most regions and exchanges information and persons internationally.

I'm certainly not elitist and in fact the interest of my choice runs from British and European sporting and military arms of the 20th century and ammo through to the practicalities of rangefinding in battle.

Now as an ex private soldier and son of a share fisherman I dont consider myself to have been born with a silver spoon anywhere, in fact I will never produce anything for other members to review but then I have always been happy shooting with a very good gun club which is what it really is!
