Certainly possible, I bought from an eBay auction which advertised it as a 1903 part but did not provide a side view. I wasn't aware of the 1917 similarity but I was disappointed it didn't have the groove I was expecting. Have to do some more shopping I suppose, that part has been nagging at me since I got it.

The condition of the stock was a selling point for me. Unfortunately no manner of adjustment to the wood allowed the action and magazine housing to seat properly so the rifle wouldn't feed. Even using snubby S&B soft points it would jam the tip of a round between the magazine body and the bottom of the feed ramp at least once per five rounds. After a year and a half of on and off effort to correct it I just ditched the stock.

I might have one I could let go. It is parkerized but would look presentable with your rifle. Have the lower band and also the swivel and screw, if you need it.

turner makes modern versions of the M1907 leather sling , and extreemly fine ones , it would be my choice if i were to buy for a shooter for sure ,

but the one on the RIA M1903 is a WWI vintage[1918 dated] with the brass claws ,

and the one on the the SC M1903A3 is a WWII vintage[1943 dated] with the steel claws

i tried to find nice examples of each US sling to round out my accoutraments , the SA M1903A1 is wearing the '03 version of the KERR no-buckle , and my REM M1903mod is wearing the M1923 webb contraption , and the REM M1903A4 has a WWII flat buckle M1 webb sling ,

later rifles have later versions -

*M1garand - has a WWII flat buckle M1 sling , *M14 type - has a korean vintage ribbed buckle M1 webb sling ,

*M16 type - has the green nylon version M1 ,

*AR A3 type - has the black nylon version M1 ,

*M4cabine type - has a contemporary harness
