Are the RC Mausers drying up?
I'm new here and just started collecting the RC Mauser's two months ago. Now I've been informed by my dealer (Military Gun Supply, FT. Worth, Texas) that the Mauser's are drying up and they don't foresee any more German (Nazi) rifles in the future. I've also read a similar statement on the Empire Arms web-site.
What do you think and do you believe that these rifles will have any collectors value in the future? I've managed to acquire two BSW's and several other makers.
Thanks,
OIFVET

Re: Are the RC Mausers drying up?
I think all of the milsurps we have an interest in have a real value that can only get better. At the same time, I don't think anyone can really say that anything is the last of anything. We have seen it before where large numbers of rifles, thought to have been all well distributed, show up. Look at the Enfield No. 5 Jungle carbines. The last big import, of what was thought to be a rare rifle, sent prices downard in a big time way. Now they are all distributed and so the value rises quickly again.
Look at the Turk Mausers. Once upon a time, a few short years ago, you could buy three and four for $100. Now the older "no license required" ones are bringing relatively large money. But... I wouldn't trust the crystal ball of a dealer who is urging me to buy, when I am not otherwise in the mood to buy.
Ultimately, milsurps all will be either distributed or destroyed. I feel more confident in the future value of my milsurps than any of my stocks.

Thank you for your thoughts. I just cant seem to help myself when it comes to buying these. A factory could not produce and sell these at what they are being sold for now and all of mine are very accurate!
What can you tell me about the BSW k98's if anything? I've been told they are rare.
Thanks again,
OIFVET

RC k98k's
It seams to me that many of the less disarible RC k98k's are selling at a lower price now, but the rare pieces will still gerner some hefty bucks.
A good buy are Yugo Reworks, as they have matching bolts. The Russans disambled the captured k98's, and reassenbled the best parts and distrubiting the origional matching parts.
The Yugo's removed all of the German markings, but the rest of the mil surp staid whole. I found out that Preducuse44 Mauser's are Yugo M48's built at the Pred44 factory. They use an intermeadient action, and the bolt is ~3/8th. of an inch shorter than the standard Mauser bolt.
Good hunting for the Mausers;

welcome Mack
Thanx for stopping by and come back often to post. Mauser's are addicting, and I'm eyeing a M09 Argintine caverly carbine, and a M96 swede. Althought I'd like a crested CZ24, a Pursian, M98/22, M38 Swede, M95 7MM Loewe, and another FR-8!
Thanx Dante'
