I know, I know…………………………………….but because of my varifocal glasses I find it difficult to shoot with any consistency past 100 mtrs ( 50 if I am 100% honest!!) and having just joined a club that has use of military ranges to the SW of Bordeaux with 400mtr and possibly 1000mtr ranges available I have had to do something to improve my chances of hitting the paper.
The mount is from S&K in the States and fits without any gunsmithing so the rifle can be returned to open sights any time.
The scope is a Meopta Artemis 2000 4 x 32. I shall be taking it to the range on Monday 22nd I hope and will post the 200mtr results afterwards.

I am also considering a cheek piece but will think about that again after the first results. Anyone got a spare one to sell?

I can't see like I used to either. Great idea. I got one on a Turk Mauser that I use from time to time....only the contests we have here are all for iron sights.

Seems the competitions heavily favor young eyes & gentler heartbeats. Those are the ones to go into battle with iron sights.
As we age, the eyes take longer to focus, develop abnormalities as blood pressure & heartbeats increase.
Glad to see you have not given up by giving in to technology.
Keep on doing what you enjoy. I don't consider it cheating.

It looks the goods.
Why didn't the military develope something like that in the 1930s, think of all the good receivers that wouldn't now have extra screw holes in them.
Can I get a mount like that for a No 1 ?

Have a look, they ship worldwide I think.
They missed out 2 screws for the rings and after I e.mailed them they posted a set the same day and I got them inside the week - good service.

I have an ATI mount that came with my Long Branch that is currently sitting on Bob's #5.
It has proved to be very solid.
