Bought something "new"

Post by Dutch Mosin » Tue Jul 05, 2005 5:33 pm

Bought myself two Mosin Nagants to keep my lonely M39 company.

First one is a mismatched 1946 Mosin Nagant M44.

Blueing on this carbine is 95% and the barrel looks great.

The wood however looked like it had seen two world wars, so I cleaned up the stock and removed all the dings and dangs.

She doesn't look like new, but I'm very happy with the result.

Second one is an all matching Mosin Nagant Model 91/59.

This "carbine" is made from a 1933 Mosin Nagant model 91/30 rifle.

I found it the way you see it in the picture.

The weapon was covered in preservative and is like new.

I'll take the M44 to the range next Saturday and see how she performs.

I will reload my own ammo using S&B cases, a cal .311 210 grain casted bullet and a reduced load using 18 grains of VihtaVuori N110 powder.

I'll keep you all posted.

Met vriendelijke groet,

Martin

A couple of nice looking carbines martin. Make sure you schedule your range time so that the following day is free from any physical activity....your shooting shoulder will be of little use

M44 at the range

Post by Dutch Mosin » Mon Jul 11, 2005 5:44 am

Went to the range last Saturday and fired a few rounds just to test if everything worked well.

I must say that this carbine performed great.

I used a very heavy bullet(210gn) and a reduced load, so almost no recoil.

I only had to shift the rear sight from 100 to 600 meters to hit the target.

Pity I reloaded only 10 rounds to test the carbine.

Wish I had made some more.

Well, next time.

I also brought my M39 to the range.

Had to test a new bullet with this one.

The new bullet is a 168gn HPBT manufactured by Prvi Partizan and it performed great.

Got a few 150 grains PMC bullets left, so I'll use these up and change to the 168 grains.

All in all I had a great day at the range........AS USUAL

Met vriendelijke groet,

Martin
