Slight delay in processing the pics that I promised but here they are.

The range I use is near the airport of Bordeaux at Merignac. It is one of the National ranges and can hold all kinds of competitions.

SO - A 50 mtr group AFTER we realized that the scope mount had not been tightened up properly after bore sighting in the garden at 50mtrs and had to start again!!

Here we have the 200mtr target with 11 rounds in it. That is all I had with the test load but I am certain that I can tighten this up once I sort out a cheek piece and improve the elbow rests. This was shot sitting unsupported on a slippery wooden surface so elbow position was not consistent

Doing some re-loading on Monday so I can get some chrono readings of the new load. (Chrono not available from the club for this date) Probably going to substitute Bench Rest primers for the CCI 200 ones.

Load was:

CASES – HXP

BULLET- PRVI PARTISAN 150grain FMJBT. Actual weights were between 151.1 & 151.9 grains

POWDER – Vectan Tubal 5000

CHARGE – 2.5 grams / 38.7 grains.

How does a slippery floor affect your elbows ? Wouldn't it affect your ar.., um the bit you sit on ?

Look at the first pic Graeme, it shows a table with the cut out so you can sit up to it on a chair!!!!! The sandbag was for checking the bore sighting, I never rest a rifle on one when I am shooting.

I have been sent that link by someone else thanks but it's a bit pricey when you add in the postage.

With the current despicable state of the £ it is cheaper to buy in the UK at the moment - IF I can find one Working on it from all directions at the moment

I just got off the phone with D.S. Solutions in Kent. They have one left and will be getting some more later so have pounced on the one remaining and sent my cheque for it. The reason they had not replied to me e.mail/phone call was that Sue Chapman had been down this flu bug.

Just as an aside, I could have bought one in France from a company called ESP. They wanted 78.50€ including p&p. That's £70.98!

The one from e.gunparts would have cost $66.90 / £44.42. That included a $25 export charge!

as noted elsewhere , ive no problem with this - totaly reversible the rifle is intact , at my age i need the occular crutch as well ,

my problem is it was easier to fit the scopes to the ARs and M1A - so now i shoot those more , if i had your setup id shoot my enfeilds more ,

Duncan, like you I have been suffering with the varilux lenses in my glasses. So much so that I was basically driving looking through the very top of the lens. This causes pain in the neck as your head is in an unatural position when driving. The problem with varilux lenses is by the time they get all the bands or prescriptions on the lens there is only a small section near the top of the lens. That is the section normally used for long distance driving and shooting. My opthamolgist (spelling ?) just recently gave me a prescription for the old fashioned bi-focals. So now I have better than half the lens just for driving and distance. Was actually cheaper than the varilux. Maybe you should check into getting a set of glasses for distance and shooting also. And don't forget the sunshade coating too. Great when mowing the grass on 4 acres. Frank

Good info Frank. My main sight problem is that my right eye needs a 2½X prism in the lens to bring it up and in line with my left so varifocals are a must. I my main problem is with the sight picture blurring very quickly if I use iron sights hence the move to optics. I have tried using optical sights without my glasses but it doesn't work so I will stick with the current setup. Glasses here cost a FORTUNE! My last pair of varifocals with reactolite sun shades cost me $1140 My shotgun, if I look down the barres as though it was a rifle the seem to bend to the left - no wonder I miss a lot of clays

Duncan, this is our 600 yard high power range. The berm in the foreground is the 300 yd firing point and there is another one at 200. Those things that look sort of like a row of popsicle sticks at the far tree line are the targets. The things right below them that look like targets are the numbers.
