Classic 98/22's ?

Post by Rockcrusher » Sat Jul 09, 2005 2:22 pm

:?: Has anyone bought a 98/22
from Classic (N.C.) in the last
2 months? Scrubbed or marked
rec? Importer? Stock and bore
condition? All Czech parts?
Are they the only dist with
98/22's ? Chantilly is 20 days,
need a Mauser fix before then.

Czech 98/22's

Post by Rockcrusher » Wed Jul 13, 2005 12:48 pm

Dante, their website is:
www.classicarms.us
If you know of another dist with
98/22's,let me know. No Big 5's
or Dunhams in Va. Plenty of Gun
Shows. Chantilly is 1,000 tables.
Have not seen any 98/22's on
Gunbroker or GunsAmerica. Send
info direct to my email if you
see a "all" Czech 98/22 with 3
line logo. Thanks

98/22

After reading a post on another site, I feel that I may have gotten the last one Ben had over at Classic about two weeks again. According to the other posts, he was to get more in within two weeks. He stated that the one he was sending me was on the rough side and he was correct. It has pitting long the wood line on both sides of the receiver and barrel. The trigger guard also has pitting around the edges. The pitting isn't overly bad and nothing a person can't live with. The great thing is the wood is in good+ condition with only minor nicks and the bore looks very good with only the crown being weak. I plan on getting a couple more in the near future if I can locate some. Military Supply was advertising them, but stated that the bore were not in the best of conditions.

Has anyone bought a 98/22

from Classic (N.C.) in the last

2 months?

Yes.

Scrubbed or marked

rec?

Marked CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBOJOVKA BRNO

Importer?

PW Arms, Redmond WA, spal mark on left fore barrel.

Stock and bore

condition?

Stock is actually pretty good. Typical dings and handling marks, but good color, not oil-soaked black and no cracks.

Bore is shiny with strong rifling.

All Czech parts?

Indeed.

Are they the only dist with

98/22's ?

Dunno. Haven't looked elsewhere. They had these at a local show and just picked one up on the spur of the moment, as it was cheap.

Chantilly is 20 days,

need a Mauser fix before then.

Classic 98/22

Post by Rockcrusher » Wed Aug 31, 2005 1:03 am

Ben at Classic sent a very nice
semi-circ logo A block. PW import,
all marks at barrel end. Great to
get a milsurp w/o the Century
billboard ! Bluing and wood
condition surpassed my expectations. Double boxed. Hardly
any cosmo on her.Have been side-
tracked because of a 94 Swede that
talked to me at Chantilly.Dressed
in a cutdown 96 rifle stock. A big
project (need a noseguard and
a stockset) that has caused the
Czech beauty to be put on hold
(minor stock blemishes). The Swede
is a 1903 CG, all metal matching
except r/sight.
A no-brainer, order a 98/22 from
Classic before they are gone !
