Finely got my Swede and she's a cougar!

Post by spearedum » Sat Oct 03, 2009 2:30 pm

Almost 100 years old and she stole my heart (1910 C.G.)- all matching, 80% finish, with a sling, but a dark bore and a lightly sanded stock so I got a good deal- $225. I'm working on the bore, but she shoots like a lady (what ever the means). The stock doesn't look like any cartusches(sp) are gone, but I don't know what is origional on the stock.

I'll send pictures soon;

I found the mirror at a wrecked race car at California (AAA) Speedway

Dhtaxi, I hear there is a new dealer opening up near you. Perhaps he could source a nice one cheap for you:)

Regards
Peter.

I've shot it a bit, but I did no match shooting until today. It has a nearly new barrel and a taller-than-issue front sight. It likes a full case of WC860, a magnum primer and a 140gr flat based bullet. It also likes SAMCO's Swedish surplus, which I shot today. I shot a 93 offhand, 96 sitting rapid, 94 prone rapidfire, then fell apart on prone slow with a 167 because I could not see the front sight in the heat mirage off the barrel. The rifle's groups move down and some to the right when the barrel gets hotter.

I bought a lot of the chargers from SAMCO. They are very evidently previously used. Both the ammunition cartridge cases and the chargers occasionally have some rust on them. Many of the chargers are too small for 6.5x55 and too small for .30-'06. Out of the many in two boxes, I found a couple that were wide enough to operate freely.

The ammunition shoots exceedingly well, even with spots of green rust on some cases. It comes in 'Battle Packs' that were opened at some time in the past, inside the packs being 20-round boxes.

Dave I've got a M96 for you to look at.

1917 Carl Gustav, matching.

I'll bring it down the range tomorrow for you to peruse, at no charge to you. :D
