Remember Springfield Sporters?

Post by Niner » Thu Apr 02, 2009 1:19 pm

A revived company is still around and sells parts on the internet, although their complete gun inventory seems to have vanished. But once upon a time they were a big time warehouse of old guns in all sorts of conditions and all sorts of prices as well as parts. I happened to find this catalog from about 1999 when tossing some assorted stuff the other day. I remember I was about to buy one of those 30/06 mausers just before they sold off all their complete guns by pallet load lots. These prices are not likely to come back again nor are some of these guns likely to be seen in any large lots again.

Note the headspace statement. Most of what they sold required a signed non-shooting statement.

Yep, Stevyn. That's true, only now they only offer parts, and a much smaller selection than once upon a time. All those sometimes great complete gun finds, for cheap, were all sold off by the pallet load...really pallet load. I remember when they were going out of business. I think Century got most of it and wholesaled it all off to lesser companies to retail at significantly higher prices.
