Guess the plane..........

Re: Guess the plane..........
Why were both using it? Now days all sides are supplied by a couple of contractors. In the US Boeing is playing the American worker card against EAD's over the Tanker contract that has been stewing for decades. But either winner will build most of them in the US so it's all a mute point.
Boeing is so in bed with the Russians they probably will be building the Russians next version of the tanker. Not that EADS is any more responsible or less likely to supply arms and airplanes to any country that will pay the price.

My home town has a stake in the Tanker thing. If EADS win they will assemble them here and all the political types are all for it. We have enough traffic as it is without increasing the population. I could care less which side "wins".

Ahhh...So you COULD care less, which means that you do care some, and might possibly care a lesser amount later.
Or maybe you COULDN'T care less, which means that you already care the least amount possible.

Wow, didn't even get a chance to guess on that plane.
Vern.

Re: Guess the plane..........
Originally they weren't. The Germans built them for the Dutch around 1937/38 to a specification issued by the Dutch. When the Netherlands were occupied at the beginning of WWII the Germans took them over and used them in the Med and North Sea for naval reconnaissance.Come on, why were they both using it?
However a Squadron (?) of eight made it to England after the fall of the Netherlands. These were used by No 320 Squadron (exclusively Dutch personnel) in the North Sea as convoy escorts.

I think I agree with you Vern.....in part.
Mobile is already the home to multiple foreign based companies. The largest single employer in Mobile Alabama, at the moment, is from Australia. And....they are making US Navy Ships. Sure beats the old days when International Paper used to employ thousands making paper. The aroma of that mill still lingers in my mind and the polution still lingers in a lot of other places in the Mobile Delta.

Bet you thought we would fall for the profile trick, HA!
It is a F(or P)-82 twin Mustang.
Of a total of 273 F-82s produced, 20 were F-82Bs.
The F-82B, Betty-Jo, flew from Hawaii to New York on Feb. 27-28, 1947, a distance of 5,051 miles,
the longest non-stop flight ever made by a propeller-driven fighter.
And over the years there has obviously been some debate on how to spell "Joe or Jo".
