And HMS Dreadnought, the one that started it all, missed the only dreadnought battle at Jutland, she was in port being upgraded. Bet that pissed off the Captain.

Hey 'G' what's this HMAS business
Dunno, but I seem to be persisting with it.
Yeah being a revolutionary design in the development of the battleship is all very well. BUT using 18,000 tons of batttleship with 10 x 12 " guns & 27 x 12 pdrs + 5 torpedo tubes, armour plating up to 18" thick to sink a submarine displacing 971 tons armed with a single 105mm gun and 4 torpedo tubes is a class act.

They rammed it when the U-boat popped up in front it unexpectedly, why bother to shoot, just drive over it.
And if the U-boat was that close, I doubt if any of the bug guns would depress that far.
So yup, just drive over it without even bothering to shoot.

SMS Scharnhorst - cruiser WW1 1907-14
Scharnhorst - battleship WW2 1939-43
Scharnhorst - sloop previously HMS Mermaid
Recognised the middle one, first one was easy to find but the last took a little bit of digging.
Very entertaining Duncan.

According to Star Trek, this is the Battlecruiser Scharnhorst, or it will be, in about 350 years.
