No rush to know and I am not sure I will be able to shoot them before end of Sept anyway.... too much other shooting!

Just thought it might be fun to shoot with my Enfield.

What are the scoring ring sizes on the target? The one I have ready access to is the ISSF 50m target. 50mm dia 10 ring and other rings at 25mm spacing. (nb 1" = 25.4mm).

David,

For those who wish to participate and do not have ready access to NRA 100 Yard Small Bore Rifle Targets, you can roll your own. The dimensions are as follows:

Full target is 14 inches x 14 inches.

X (center) ring - 1 inch diameter 1/2 inch radius

10 ring 2 inches 1 inch radius

9 ring 4 inches 2 inch

8 ring 6 inches 3 inch

7 ring 8 inches 4 inch

6 ring 10 inches 5 inch

5 ring 12 inches 6 inch

1 inch - 2.54 cm

You can also go to the following link and download the a suitable target in a pdf file that can be printed using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Be sure to set Print Scaling to None when printing this file.

Code: Select all

Does this mean that I can use my recently acquired Hawken coal burner Exclamation
No, the Hawken is not eligible. The match is for military rifles, and in this case reproductions thereof. It also incluces BP cartridge rifles if you are loading them with BP. If using smokeless powder, they belong with one of the other classes.

Sgt Jethro

P.S, We may have a BP match later on if there is enough interest.

Thanks for the target information. Just need to confirm what position the BP and muzzle loader comp is shot from. I am assuming offhand.

Thanks,

David

Fear not David, at least old AJ is partially back. At his advanced years one thing at a time is all he can manage occasionally, but have faith. fuller pronouncements shall be forthcoming from his venerable maw.

David,

The BP shooting will be offhand. I have made alterations to the rules to make this point clear. I was thinking about making an exception for Adam which would allow him to shoot whilst bent over facing away from the target. I decided not to make that exception since it would amount to creating a cannon class.

I haven't been reading things properly but I'll be in this. I do like having a choice of positions :) Here's what I'll use No1 Mk III*

All original, been to India but not Isshy Screwed

Not so good :!: 29/8/2005

Managed 58 at 50 yards off-hand, miserable day, raining off and on (mainly on) and gusty wind,------ winge, whine etc., etc., But as the wind was straight behind me it didn't make any difference. Bit like summer in Scotland :D

Well you have nothing to fear from me this time as my score was so low it was not worth posting  I had just won a shoot and ran out of my own hand loads so used some 186 fmj that I bought with the result all shots were high left.
