Took the No 8 and the No 4 out to the range today

Post by Woftam » Fri Apr 29, 2011 7:10 am

Thanks to Dave's assistance I was able to mount a PH5D to the No 8 & a PH5C to the No 4. First up the No 8.

Bore sighted it and was about an inch high and slightly left. 5 x 5 shot groups to get it sighted in. 25 meters benched. Then I shot for effect. The first (right hand target) was pleasing. The second (left hand target) was very pleasing. Unfortunately not enough time to take it out to 50 & 100 meters but very promising so far I reckon.

The No 4 at 100 meters, benched, was a bit more problematical. Bore sighted it. First five shots resulted in a single hole a half inch from the top of the frame and well right. Hmmm, time for a rethink. An educated guess later and I'm on paper, sort of. After a bit of "shoot a group - make an adjustment, shoot a group = make an adjustment" I make another educated guess and fire off my last 5 rounds. Fairly happy with the last 5 - all in the black.

Also took the .22 Hornet and some different ammo to usual, less said the better there.

The power of accurate observation is frequently called cynicism by those who don't have it.
