Looking for 11 m/m Dutch Beaumont reload info.

Post by USDF » Sun Aug 14, 2005 1:23 pm

Preferably smokeless loads. Have some 405 grain .457 dia. flat nose lead bullets and forty five 11mm cases and a die set. I'd like to try reloading this old dog and see how accurate it can be.

Anyone out there shot one of these before??

Can't help with reloading info I am afraid. However, try www.militaryrifles.com. Browse to the main rifle index and look under 'Netherlands' and you will find some info on the rifle. The site owner may be able to direct you to reloading information.

USDF,

Here are two loads that I have used in my Dutch Beaumont using the same bullet that you have.

H-777 60 grains by volume.

IMR-4198 31 grains by weight.

Both shot reasonably accurately. With the H-777, be sure that you clean the brass and rifle with good ole soap and hot water after shooting.

USDF,

Here are two more suggested loads for your Beaumont.

XMP-5744 26 grains

SR-4759 22 grains.

USDF,

I have shot my Beaumont twice. The last time I used H-777 and did not clean the brass right away and it ended up being corroded beyond reused. I currently have 20 rounds loaded with XMP-5744, but have not had time to get to the range.

When I did shoot it, I fired at 200 yards and was very surprised by the rifle's accuracy. Of the guns of this era that I own, only my 1884 Springfield Trapdoor shoots better.
