Just put a deposit on a .310 Cadet. in not bad condition, complete and matching numbers, promising looking bore and a beautiful walnut butt.
$A250.

Very nice. I wish they were that cheap here. I have one that is Australian marked but has no State markings, Kangaroo stamp or serial number.

I'm just on cleaning it up at the moment Woffers, it hasn't been stored particularly well for the last umpteen years but it has a decent barrel and the dealer gave me 5 rounds of "Cattle Killers" to try in it and I was well pleased with the way it shoots. You'll notice these rounds are appreciably shorter than a standard .310 round.

Nice shooting Joe and you just reminded me I have a .310 cadet at the back of my cabinet can not remember the last time it saw day light may be I should drag it out.
I have got all the reloading gear for it some were and a mould if I remember rightly. I wonder were I put them hmmm.

I remember coming across the Cattle Killer rounds when I first got my Cadet and was cruising the 'net for info.

In the UK in the mid 19th Century, when vets were commonly called on to dispatch animals small handheld devices were developed using either a “captive bolt” or “free ammunition”. It was also issued as standard equipment to farriers and vets in the British Army. The size was presumably for the convenience of being able to slip it into the vet’s equipment bag. One of the more popular calibres was the .310 and so evolved the .310 Cattle Killer – a slightly shortened version of the .310 Cadet. This may have something to do with the fact Greener was a big manufacturer of these devices.
