First....
First came the royal wedding, then her majesty's diamond jubilee, after that we had the London Olympics and now the death of Thatcher.
You have to hand it to us Brits; once we get started on creating a feel-good factor we know how to keep it going!

Re: First....
I've seen similar posts from 'over there.' Strange thing is she seems well revered in other parts of the world, even here.

I don't have an opinion about her one way or the other. It's for the Brits to have an opinion about her.
Did read this from Glen Greenwald suggesting every time a polical figure passes on, any country, they are given homage in the home country press without reminding anybody of the controversial things the dead person might have been involved in.

One thing he did say about Thatcher was this:

One thing he did say about Thatcher was this:
Whatever else may be true of her, Thatcher engaged in incredibly consequential acts that affected millions of people around the world. She played a key role not only in bringing about the first Gulf War but also using her influence to publicly advocate for the 2003 attack on Iraq. She denounced Nelson Mandela and his ANC as "terrorists", something even David Cameron ultimately admitted was wrong. She was a steadfast friend to brutal tyrants such as Augusto Pinochet, Saddam Hussein and Indonesian dictator General Suharto ("One of our very best and most valuable friends"). And as my Guardian colleague Seumas Milne detailed last year, "across Britain Thatcher is still hated for the damage she inflicted – and for her political legacy of rampant inequality and greed, privatisation and social breakdown."
