This is the rifle that started me on my mission to collect 1944 Mosin Nagants, it's a 1944 Tula M44 built on an early 20's Tula big hammer reciever. The reason I can only narrow the reciever down to the early 20's is the tang has been scrubbed, but Tula only stamped there recievers with the Hammer cartouche for a couple of years in the early 20's. It is in a late war stock with an amber finish similar to post war 91/59's and has a very intresting hand gaurd repair. Its a mix of Izhevsk and Tula parts and has several Russian names scratched into the buttstock and the underside of the neck of the stock.
