Here's a prototype ...or is it?
Is this real or imagined? Propaganda? A prototype that quickly failed? Where's the guy's bullets? Shouldn't there be a belt of them some place? Or maybe I just don't see it. In any case this idea couldn't have lasted too long in it's first configuration.

Re: Here's a prototype ...or is it?
I know that is supposed to be hundred year old picture but it looks faked to me , looks like the Wright brothers plane and the pic of the guy with the gun is faked in there , he looks as though he is standing which would have been correct for a rear gunner in a biplane and the gun is on a tripod in front of an open seat which he is behind .
I was reading an article today which has now proven that the majority of WW1 dog fight photos were faked back in the 1930s by a couple who made a fortune by producing a book allegedly of a WWI pilots diary , he was supposed to have strapped a camera to a machine gun , the camera would start taking pictures when the gun was fired .
It was all fiction and the dog fights wee created with models . But ever since WWI they had been used as historical reference because no one expected it to be a fraud .
It wasn't until after the couple had died and their possessions were left to a museum the fraud came to light .

Don't know if its a fake but the gun looks like a Lewis gun, you can just make out the drum mag on top.

Well... those fly boys did have some problems. The aerial artillery was being developed too.

The question should be: Is the newspaper a fake?

It's one of several real newspapers published on on particular date. It's from the Seattle Star. The paper is real. Maybe somebody who supplied them with a photo is creative with photo manipulation..... long before Photoshop and such.
