No5 on the range!

Post by awo425 » Sun Jun 05, 2005 8:01 am

Noe this is what my BSA No5Mk1 can do with S&B factory ammo:

Took me 5 shots to get it centered, next 5 were in :loco:;

My handlaods(reduced charges) were not that good, have too work on them.

Nice shooting Chris, you got to be pleased with that No 5.

What were your handloads? What bullet were you using.

I've never used that S&B stuff never seen it here, it seems to shoot OK.

I'm copying this post to the temporary forum, can you please post there Chris untill further notice as I don't want to loose any posts when Ez board try and restore.

Hello Adam!

Yes, I am very pleased with the No5!!!

It may not be the prettiest, but ist feels right and can hit what it is pointed at, that is what counts:-))

I do Like S&B Ammo much, shoots real good in .303, 6,5x55 and 7.62x54R. There is no more .303 surplus around here, the last was dutch AI, wonderfull stufff, but sold real quick.

Some say, that the yugoslavien PPU is also good, but I only use it to get the brass in 7,62x54R.

For my handloads I use CUHS(Copper High Speed) bullets from Haendler&Natermann. Those bulleets are swaged lead, very thinn copper plated and finaly coated with some kind of plastic stuff, wich serves as lube.

In the past I used N320 for my reduced loads with good success, but now I use N110.

My No4 do like 17grn of N110 behind a 180grn, .312" RN CUHS bullet seatet 1mm shy of the lands(100m):

The lower two hits where shot #2 and #3, the first was in the backstop. It takes 2 to 4 shots to build up stable lube/dirt in the barrel.

The other load, I tryed, was something in the class of the russian M43(Kalashnikov) cartridge, but this load was not consitent. For this I use the Lapua S405 bullet.

Chris

PS: It took me some time to find the temporary forum :lol:;
