"Shamrock" Enfield

Here are a couple shots of the "Shamrock" Enfield I got awhile back. At the time the Cybershot was in China with it's owner, so photos were not available.

The Irish Republic owned it up to 1961, then Hunter's Lodge until it sold in 1963. I am the second owner since then.

No Irish property marks on this rifle, at all.

I have yet to test fire, but the bore looks good.

The sling is marked "B.H.G. 1941", whatever that means.

Ok, I'm ignorant... as usual. What do you know about it? Owned by the Irish government at one time from the certificate... but what's the story? Irish contract with some source? If there are no Irish property marks, are there any other marks to identify where it came from?

Looks like somebody changed out the stock butt.

I'm afraid I won't be much help on this one----you see, I was expecting it to have an Irish property mark.

Reading the rifle---it's a 1918 BSA with an undated commercial barrel. The front wood is all WW2 era Beech, while the buttstock seems to be original.

Not much help, as I said.
