Re: THE FIRST WORLD WAR THREAD.
Trench warfare doesn't seem to be getting the British anywhere. So.... the obvious answer is to change the commanders around and continue digging.

Czar's New Years forecast. Nothing like having a broken crystal ball that couldn't see as far as 1917.

Kaiser's New Years message. God's on his side it seems. The problem with the enemies of Germany is "impotent" madness...whatever that is.

"who joyfully gave their blood in order"........
I have my doubts about how "joyfully" they gave it..........

Peace is that brief, quiet moment in history.......... when everybody stands around reloading.
Re: THE FIRST WORLD WAR THREAD.
In England the volunteers aren't coming fast enough. Married men are excluded form service as well as various categories of men essential to the war effort on the home front. Seems like lots of single young men don't want to join the adventure of fighting for ...whatever they are fighting over.
But... take heart draftees.. you won't be looked down upon for being forced into service. Just consider it doing your duty and we will overlook the fact that you were reluctant. Just like in the US during the Vietnam War.

So the new German ground rules for sinking American Ships.....or should that be "sea" rules. A hundred years ago today.

Nick couldn't read the writing on the wall .. yet... a hundred years ago today....but he talked the talk of a man who was in control the spin.
