Wow that looks in good fettle Robert, I have shot one of Adams before and really like them. I have pics on photobucket but it's such a fag to retrieve them unfortunately.

I am currently chasing a 99c in .284 Win.

How's the recoil, Robert? Looks like it is lighter than your basic Enfield in the same caliber..unless a Jungle Carbine.

Unfortunately I cant fire it yet . There is no Ammo or cases in the U K or EU for it and I am waiting for cases to arrive from the U S hope to get them next week then a loading session will be called for .

303 Savage is not 303 British. Two very different calibers. 303 Savage is closest to 30-30 winchester. It is a rimmed case with slightly greater capacity than 30-30. The 30-30 is limited to about 170 grain bullets where 198 grain bullets were a standard load in the 303 Savage. 303 Savage ballistics are nominally better than 30-30. Introduced in 1894 the 303 Savage was a popular hunting round until the 1930s. Where the 99 can really shine is in the choice of bullets for the reloader. 30-30s were limited to round nose bullets because the Winchester 1894 and Marlin 336 which were the main 30-30s around had tubular magazines. There was fear that a spitzer bullet could detonate the primer of the bullet in front of it under recoil. With its rotary magazine the 99 has no such limitation. Being left handed, the 99 is my primary hunting rifle. Where I live shots beyond 100 yards are rare. I've used 99s in 303 Savage, 243 and 300 Savage, mostly the latter. Outstanding rifles and one of the strongest lever action designs made.
