New 1882 revolver....many pics

The search for this somewhat elusive revolver has ended...now I have to solve the ammo situation;)


This pistol was dreamed up by the rather prolific designer, Colonel Schmidt (sounds familiar?). ;

Correct, with a Hunter Green pastel stain, she is looking mighty purty. I've only got about half the tru-oil on her right now. Still 50 more coats to go. I'll post pictures shortly..

Although identical to the military version the P ahead of the serial indicates that this is a privat revolver.


It might have been a privat purchase or has been used by the police or else.

So basically the privat series of revolvers was a commercial or "auxiliary" production run? It's very difficult to find info on this stuff, especially if you don't read German, like me;)

Phil, you'll find two serials on this gun, the one at the left is the normal serial and the second under the barrel near the frame and maybe also at some other places is the Waffenfabrik Bern serial.


As you already noticed there is a lot written about the 1882 in the "other guns" section of Swissrifles.com .

For those of you that have happened to look for it, 7.5 Swiss revolver ammo isn't exactly commonplace. However, there is hope for us shooters out there. Some helpful folks, like czechmauseritis got me pointed in the right direction.


Today I ordered some custom dies from CH4D...they pretty much have every caliber of dies you'll need. Then, I got some inexpensive 32-20 brass from Midway, along with some .312 96gr RN lead bullets, also quite cheap ($25/500).


The 32-20 brass is reformed into 7.5, adn is trimmed to length. I hope to get everything up and running by this time next week, when I receiver the materials.


This should be interesting;)
