My state sucks.

Post by Niner Delta » Wed Feb 16, 2022 9:27 pm

Well, all the liberal Democraps are at it again. The state senate passed a 10 round mag law and now it is in
the hands of the state house of representatives. It makes the sale or manufacture of any over 10 rnd mag, rifle or pistol, illegal.
But doesn't make owning them illegal, still unsure how to prove our 11+ mags are grandfathered. Too many loose ends and
unclear wording that hopefully the reps won't go for it. Will probably know by Friday if it passes. Our dipshit
governor already wants to sign it.
Some days I'm just sorry I ever moved back here.......

What about Curio and Relics? An M1 Carbine has a standard 15 round magazine. Are the rifles that contributed to winning WWII and fighting in Korea banned? What if you sold one without a magazine? What if you had one and wanted to sell it to someone in another state with a firearms license of any sort with a magazine legal in other states? Looks like your home state is going to open a can of worms that will produce all kinds of legal fireworks.

What I have read of it so far...... it will ban the "Sale or Manufacture" or even trading or gifting to anyone, of any
over 10 mags of any kind, C&R or any kind. It does not say anything about guns, mags only.
I'm sure if they get this passed, banning guns will be next on their agenda.....

SB 5078 does not ban the possession of standard-capacity magazines. That means people would be allowed to keep and use mags they already own without modifying, selling, or otherwise surrendering them, as residents of most states with mag bans have had to do. Washingtonians could also, conceivably, purchase standard-capacity mags in other states.

Additionally, the bill would not apply to law enforcement and military personnel.

The fact that the bill would do nothing to remove standard capacity magazines that proponents say are so detrimental to public safety makes the bill’s opponents question its core merits.
https://freerangeamerican.us/washington ... azine-ban/

People who are found to violate the law may get up to a year in jail and a $5000 fine but they would have to be proved to have come by them in Washington State after the law passes apparently.

And so...would that make the Glock 19 illegal to sell new in Washington State since it has a 15 round magazine? Or would someone have to come up with a modified magazine for it? Glad I live in a gun friendly state where this manifestation of gun fear is never likely to come up.

This seems to mean ANY magazine holding over 10 rounds.....

"Large capacity magazine" means an ammunition feeding device
with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds of ammunition, or any
conversion kit, part, or combination of parts, from which such a
device can be assembled if those parts are in possession of or under
the control of the same person, but shall not be construed to include
any of the following:

(a) An ammunition feeding device that has been permanently
altered so that it cannot accommodate more than 10 rounds of ammunition;
(b) A 22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device; or
(c) A tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action firearm."

Reading the bill I also found this....

"Untraceable firearm" means any firearm manufactured after
July 1, 2019, that is not an antique firearm and that cannot be
traced by law enforcement by means of a serial number affixed to the
firearm by a federally licensed manufacturer or importer."

Guess it's a good thing I made my ghost guns before that date...... :D
