I don't remember the boots being a problem on my feet, maybe because before I went in the Army
I had been working on a railroad track crew wearing steel toe boots every day. There was a group of
"good old boys" from Missouri in my basic unit, I think they put rocks in their boots to get used to wearing
them. Probably were related to the Clampetts and surprised they didn't build a still in the barracks.
Closest thing I ever met to real hillbillies. ....
