Biden spoke to Gold Star families who similarly lost loved ones in military service and took the time to recognize his late son, former Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, who died in 2015 at age 46. "I know how hard it can be" as he acknowledged the uniqueness of each individual story.
"I know it hurts. The hurt is still real, still raw," Biden reminisced as he noted this week is the ninth anniversary of his son's death which the president indicated was cancer thought to be from toxic exposure during Beau Biden's Iraq war service
"The pain of his loss is with me every day as it is for so many of you," he said, calling it "still sharp, still clear but so is the pride I feel in his service as if I can still hear him saying, 'It's my duty, dad, it's my duty.'"

Biden and Memorial Day
Memorial Day is to remember those who gave their lives in wars they were sent to fight for their country. A day to note the untold number of mostly very young men who gave up their lives as their adult lives were only starting. Biden did a me too and I think I heard a mass rumble of revulsion as the truly honored dead revolved in their graves.
