#4mk1 date of manufacture?

Post by cmomm44 » Mon Dec 19, 2005 4:36 pm

BBT just brought the above Enfield from SOG (a CAI import) and paid (hand pick) for ww2 date and matching #'s---find all numbers, etc. scrubbed from bolt, receiver and wrist except serial# on left side---can I find out date of manufacture, factory, ftr'd or not from serial#?---wood real nice except for the usual dings mostly on buttstock, fluted rear handguard ---bore full of crud but has excellent lands at muzzle--metal good---mag is painted black---any info appreciated :?: ---thanks

Sounds like an Ishapor scrub job.

If they left the original serial number it should be possible to determine the manufacturer and approximate date.

might well be an Ishapore 'scrub job'---at least it has NO 'ishy screw', thank goodness which made me think it was done elsewhere :?: --thanks

"...CAI import..." Check the headspace. CAI has no QC.
Spelling and grammar always count.
