If you add up the actual number of parts, you're surprised at how few there are - and how well-designed the action actually is.
Simplicity and strength made it a long-lasting design, which actually still is used in some free pistols...
Of course, the ultimate rendition was the Francotte takedown patent, as used on the Cadets and BSA target rifles.
