A family day at the Clays.

Domestic issues means that I won't be going North this Hogmanay.

One of the reasons is that my son and his girlfriend decided to visit over the Hog.

When the children were younger we used to go to Scotland for three weeks over the new year and we always had a clay pigeon shoot on the croft which they always enjoyed.

So this year we went to my mate Jims for a day at the clays. A great time was had by all, although we'll need to wait for a thaw to do the pick up.

Jim's coaching Perry here with a Four Ten hammer gun, I was using a pair of Laurona side locks during the day. Thats my wife Kay (the Chief Executive) working the trap.

Looks like fun. I had a gizmo that would sling clays that was hand held when I was a teen ager. Never tried it much though for some reason. We had most of a case of clays around the house for years.

Adam, Looks to be an excellant way to spend a wintery day! 'Hits' must've been up with such a friendly background to shoot into.

My son, Brian and I have spent many a fine day with a couple of cases of clays and two slingers, which together could launch five at a time (many a stupid shooting game invented, mostly by him

). His favorites are the side-by-sides, mine the humpbacks.

Perry, shoots in the same form as my daughter, Lesley...I've gotta remember to bring the camera next time!

When it come to shooting clays I like them low, fast and coming straight at you at head height. Break them or be hit.

A face full of clay certainly focusses your shooting.
