The way things went today at 600 yards.

This first picture pretty well says it, I am on 9 and Bob is on 10. He was way out ahead of me all day. He finally offered me his rifle to try but I don't have the eyes to use those tiny NM aperatures any more.

This was shot through my spotting scope at 300 yards

We got everyone on the paper at 300 and then moved back to the 600 yard line where Bob proceeded to hit the certificate within his first 5 rounds.

I could not have been more proud of my 12 year old son today, he shot very well, he handled himself well in the pits while pulling targets, he listened to the high power shooters who were there as volunteer coaches, he followed the safety rules to the letter, and he didn't quote Ed, Edd, & Eddy one time the whole time we were on the range. :D

Here he is pulling targets

The paper stapled to the middle of the black is the 600 yard sight in certificate that we were trying to hit.

He has two holes in his but my hole is bigger

Here he is making safe his rifle in preperation for moving to the 600 yard line. I think the secret to his success today was the new CMP/Creedmore shooting jacket that he wore shooting for the first time.

River Ben Range

Ah,I remember when River Bend was adjacent to the river down in Duluth next to the country club.I also remember when they moved to the present location. That area was known locally as "Kelly Bottoms" and I used to rabbit and deer hunt in there when it was private property.

Good pictures and congratulations to your son.A very worth achievement on his part and the result no doubt of good teaching on your part.
