Winchester Model 1897 shotguns

Post by Brithunter » Wed Apr 26, 2006 6:45 pm

Hi All,

Now anyone know a ball park price figure?

Yes I realise that condition matters a lot!

Reason I ask is a friend here has been offered two of them  a 12 bore and a 16 bore, the 16 has a second barrel. I have done a little snooping on the web but not come up with much in the way of values except on those Norinco copies. I do hope thta I will get a report on thier condition later in the week which will help no end.

Edit:-

Whoops got it wrong of course they are Winchesters and not Colts'

Hi Kevin,

It really depends on condition and provenance, I passed one for £200 last year 50s manufacture in ropey but working condition.

However get one with some provence like WW1 trench broom evidence and then you are asking some serious dosh.

There were around 1 million manufactured during its 80 years of production so provenence and condition will be everything.
