Lee-Enfield Magazine Rifle, Mark 1*

I may have opportunity to purchase a Lee-Enfield Magazine Rifle, Mark 1*. The rifle appears to have been refurbished, with evidence of pitting on some parts, that have been cleaned and nicley reblued. Overall it appears in good clean condition. Bore looks good.

Can anyone advise on ball park prices for such rifles in the UK? Also any comments as to accuracy - I'd likely use it in NRA historic arms meetings and HBSA comps.

Allways a difficult thing to value David as there are never a lot of them to judge others by.

I think we had a thread on this about a year ago but the last decent one I saw was in fact about two years back and was about £795 ish.

Does this mean you will be entering the HBSA "1910" Meeting with it?

Thanks for the info. I won't be at the 1910 meeting, I have the MLAGB AGM to attend the day before in Warwick and a club match to shoot on the Sunday of the '1910'. I may be able to get to the mid-range open though (September sometime I think?).

Probably the the worst two horrors I have seen for ages, apart from Blair and Prescott that is.

No, it isn't either of those you picture. The rifle I looked at would be a private purchase from a friend so you won't find it on the web.

just to check I'm not going mad, how did a rifle, dated 1918, end up with VR as the royal stamp? and the finish looks shocking. more pointedly, why is it when I'm having an argument with the police over a variation (only two months and counting) that I see rifles I like. and in Kalamazoo ?!

Little doubt that both of those rifles are "Khyber Pass Specials" - the markings are not only incorrect, but crudely done ....
