Mosin Competitions

Post by tmackay3302 » Fri Jan 20, 2006 7:38 pm

I just bought a M44 (from big5 for $80) it's not beautiful but is a piece of history, which is what i wanted. My question is what kind of competions would i be able to use my rifle in? It would have to be something i could use open sights in because i could always shoot better with them than a scope.

thanks for your input.

Your M44 in it's original configuration would compete in any of the vintage rifle matches including those sanctioned by the CMP.

I shot one of my Finnish M39's in a regional MSA match a few months ago.

Your profile doesn't say where you are located but you should be able to find something in your area.

If you have problems zeroing your rifle try fixing the bayonet forward and see if that helps.

I would think one of the longer rifles of that design would be a better choice for a competition. I would tend to think from what I have been able to gather on the net this past few months that a long gun can be had for the same price as a carbine no?
