Chordial rifling barrel as used in the L42/Enforcers?

Could concieveably be an old Metford barrel stock that was found profiled and fitted, whats the twist rate and number of grooves?

There were a lot of target shooters that rated the old Metford for accuarcy, I have a volunteer CLLE that is fitted with a Metford barrel.

L42A1 with chordial rifling?????

Only saw them with 4 groove barrels, normal profile.

Chordial rifling is 6 groove, roundet lands, or did I get something wrong?

My understanding is that some L42s were fitted with chordial rifled barrels and I have seen one.

However in the world of Enfields one swallow a summer does not make. :D;

I think that in the official EME's or whatever, it was approved to fit either a hammer-forged Enfield barrel or an Enforcer barrel to the L42 as replacement. I've seen both types on both rifles.

Urban myth has it that the Enforcer barrel was optimised for "up to" 600m shooting (which seems borne out by the accuracy of Enforcers up to mid-range), so it seems a bit odd that it was approved for the L42, which had a service range requirement of up to 1000m.

p.s. if anyone can give me a lead on a decent spare Enforcer barrel (or L39/42), I'll offer an appropriate reward!
