On second thought, that would be like the Easter Bunny wanting to jump in the sleigh with Santa on Christmas Eve, now wouldn't it? Totally impossible to link the two.

Well the end result will be a Hung Parliament so we will all have to learn to swim in treacle for the next 5 years.

I know about as much about British politics as I do about how to conjugate a Swahili verb. But I read this in the Guardian.
The prime minister might allow the Fixed-Term Parliaments Act of 2011 to take its course: a vote of no confidence, two weeks to form a government, the failure to do so, and the calling of a second election. How much more dignified – and May is a person of considerable dignity – to confront the bitter truth, announce her resignation as Conservative leader, urge her party to elect a successor swiftly, declare that she will tender her resignation as prime minister and (in so doing) prepare the ground for the second election that is the inevitable outcome of this extraordinary night.

What an irony: the gamble that was supposed to settle everything has settled only the fate of the woman who, against habit and history, threw the dice on the table and lost it all. The rest of us face only a haze of uncertainty.

This opinion is, of course, something I don't know anything about and something I have no stake in at all. In America nobody really knows where any political turmoil may lead or foresee the path in getting there. NO American president resigns just because his popularity polls are below 50% and it seems the right thing to do. If that were the case, probably every President in my lifetime would have resigned at some point.

In America we have to have some blood drawn....the Watergate fiasco for Nixon... the Monica and the cigar lie for Clinton from which Clinton narrowly escaped an impeachment. The wolf pack is circling on Trump and the Congressional investigators are sharpening their teeth and the press is all gathered as play by play announcers.

Basically she has not fought back when confronted by local political problems such as the NHS and general health care.
For many reasons she has been seen as afraid to argue her points with other political parties and that has cost her many votes.
One of the big problems is that Corbyn is still an idiot.........the level of support for him confirms that the UK is full of like minded idiots who believe anything they are told when it comes to spending on policies. Corbyn apparently has a money tree in his garden........he is a terrorist loving SOB and surrounds himself with leftist non descripts who will all rollover and do as they are told, no matter what damage it would do tho the UK.............

Unfortunately, my son is a supporter of Corbyn. I have tried to point out the error of his ways, but he has fallen for the left wing propaganda. He thinks Corbyn is for the common man and the Conservatives only for the rich people and do not care about anyone else. A lot of Corbyn votes came from young people due to his promise to abolish university tuition fees. I wouldn't mind a cutting from his 'magic money tree' that is going to generate all the funds he needs to implement his spending spree.
Anyway, the election wasn't all bad. Alex Salmond and Angus Robertson got dumped out of their parliamentary seats by the Conservatives. That wiped the smile off Nicola Sturgeon's face and stuffed her indyref2 dream. That bit brightened up the proceedings a little.
Regards
Peter.

Abolish fees at Universities? Hey.... Corbyn and Bernie Sanders are in the same club. Sanders supporters are probably going to have to find a new champion come the next election in the US, Bernie is a bit long in the tooth...and of course anybody like him will have to get past the entrenched party officials that promoted Hillary last time and will latch onto somebody like her next time. .
