bastard blair was one of the biggest shites going in British politics and he was up against some stiff competition.
There is an even BIGGER bastard there now - Gordon will screw everything up tighter, you watch.

What I want to know, and it is not a shot across your bows Dromia but why are all these Scottish politicians messing up England. Send em back to Scotland and let us get on with our lives.

You touch on an interesting issue there although its constitutional rather than racist as you seem to portray.

The issue is known as the West Lothian question which was raised at the time by Tam Dayell MP for West Lothian and Robin Cooke around the issue of partial devolution, where would England sit with devolved powers to the three other Kingdoms?

The half hearted answer to this was regional governance for England, this however was rejected by regions in the ensuing referendums hence the constitutional dilemma that parliament finds itself in.

Westminster now governs bits of Scotland, Ireland and Wales and the whole of England, in legislative and some tax terms.

Obviously England is the looser here as it doesn't have its own governance mechanisms, the only people who never thought it strange that they didn't get to vote on the constitutional break up of the UK was the English, they are starting to wake up to it now however a bit to late methinks.

Finally much as I may dislike individual politicians I don't necessarily blame them, the beauty of democracy is that you get the goverment you deserve, politicians may be arse holes but we vote for them so it is the fault of the electorate. There faults, foibles and weaknesses are a direct reflection of society at large i.e us.

For all its weaknesses and imperfections I'm glad I live in a secular democracy and will defend our parliament and processes as I've seen nothing better.

The biggest threat to our constiutional well being however is not The West Lothian question but compulsory ID cards, that in our parliamentary democracy with no written constitution will shift the relationship betwixt citizen and state through 180 degrees and put us on the verge of a dictatorship.

Value democracy, value parliament and put in the best people we can, or would you prefer a caliphate ruling through sharia law Duncan?

Ummm...........

...............I couldn't print what I actually think should have happened years ago ( and it has NOTHING to do with Scottish Politicians ) and is now coming back to haunt the UK. The one thing I can say with certainty is that I am NOT a European, I am NOT British I am ENGLISH and to be exact a YORKSHIREMAN.

People living in my country should abide by its laws and customs as we have to do in other countries of the world. If they want different laws / education / religions / holidays then let them leave for a country that has what they seek.

I abide by the laws here in France. I pay my taxes here in France but that does not make me a Frenchman, it makes me an ENGLISHMAN living broad

End of ranting

PS I bet there are some warm views coming in from Aus

Seems they don't want you to have them because someone might steal them ?

Is it the same for cars ?

I feel sorry for you guys, although I fear we're not far behind. We are quickly becoming 'subjects' of the govt and not citizens anymore.

You are correct there Pilgrim and we don't see it, or worse don't want to.

All this terrorism stuff is worked up by government so that we give up our rights to have them protected

How bizarre is that?

There will always be nutters out to do others damage and that is one of the prices we pay for freedom but I for one will not fear them.

I don't remember all this fear talk when the IRA Micks were bombing the shite out of us.

We took it as it came and kept our pride and our rights.

We didn't blame the government then either for not "protecting" us.

Its the terrorist that are wrong not us.
